Düsseldorf is getting ready for the international yachting and water sports trade fair boot 2012. In 17 halls around 1,600 exhibitors from over 50 countries will be introducing their premieres and innovations – from fishing rods to big luxury yachts – for the coming up season from 21 to 29 January 2012. The number of exhibitors is supposed to be much higher than the last year.
“The international yacht and watersports business focuses its activities on boot Düsseldorf as the sector’s central European marketplace. This development is spurred on by the varying economic forces influencing the maritime markets. Germany and Northern Europe have weathered the recent crisis years far better than the countries of Southern Europe. International exhibitors wish to benefit from this,” says Messe Düsseldorf CEO Werner Matthias Dornscheid.
According to data from the German Marine Federation in Cologne (Bundesverband Wassersportwirtschaft – BVWW), sales on the German watersports market in 2011 are set to rise by 2.6% to Euro 1.77 billion. The German boat business has noticeably recovered after the heavy downturn caused by the economic and financial crisis and has been able to increase production by 30%. Further 20% growth is also expected for 2011.
However, this result is largely attributable to the domestic market,” reports BVWW Managing Director Jürgen Tracht. Future developments hold many risks as well as opportunities. “Sweeping recovery at international level is not very likely due to the tense financial and economic situation prevailing in many European countries. On the other hand, the sector can benefit here from the growing tendency amongst consumers to invest in value-retaining products.”
Messe Düsseldorf anticipates far in excess of 600 foreign participations at boot Düsseldorf 2012. Over one in every three exhibitors will come from abroad.
Boats and yachts will be centrestage at the fair. On show in the over eleven halls will be an unparalleled international display of 1,700 types of craft in all shapes and sizes. The halls focusing on trend sports, diving, travel and ship’s chandlery are also well subscribed.
Awaiting boot visitors under the heading “Enjoy a 360° Watersports Experience” will be 16 event and themed worlds where visitors will be able to try out water sports and obtain first-hand information from experts in all disciplines. Whether anglers, surfers, kiters, divers, yachtsmen or charterers: anyone into watersports or wanting to take one up will find their very own special “world” here in Düsseldorf. One of the great attractions is the canoeing area World of Paddling in Hall 13. At boot 2012 this themed area will for the first time now also feature a watercourse where visitors will be able to experience the fascination of canoeing first-hand. Promising even more fun and space for test dives will be a new, even bigger diving pool located at the diving centre Tauchsport Center in Hall 3.
