The PSP Southampton Boat Show is pleased to present Breast Cancer Campaign as the official Ladies’ Day charity for 2012. Held on Thursday 20 September at the PSP Southampton Boat Show in Mayflower Park, the 4th annual Ladies’ Day will bring together visitors dressed to impress, enjoying the yachts, luxury as well as entertainment while trying to win the coveted days’ prize.
Breast Cancer Campaign funds innovative world class research into breast cancer to understand how it develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and ultimately a cure. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, and one in every eight women will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime. That’s one in eight visitors to Ladies Day – mums, daughters, wives and sisters – whose families will also be affected by their breast cancer diagnosis.
Over the past three years, more than £10,000 has been raised for nominated Ladies’ Day charities. Those which have benefitted through awareness raised for their cause, as well as the funds contributed; include Touching Tiny Lives, Wessex Cancer Trust and the Rose Road Association. The event is a fantastic, fun day out with the knowledge that money is being raised for a great cause at the same time.
All the efforts by visitors of getting dressed in their finery will not go unnoticed as the Southern Daily Echo will be out looking for those who are enjoying the Show in style and taking photos for the Best Dressed Lady competition.
Murray Ellis, managing director of National Boat Shows, the Show’s organiser, comments; “We are thrilled to be partnering with Breast Cancer Campaign as the nominated charity for Ladies Day. It’s great to provide funds for the community, especially through such an enjoyable event as this. We’re expecting even more flamboyant outfits for this fourth Ladies Day, especially as it’s all in the name of Breast Cancer Campaign”.
Mike Straney at Breast Cancer Campaign adds: “We are delighted to have been selected as the charity partner of Ladies Day at the PSP Southampton Boat Show. Having the support of such a prestigious event will help us fund vital breast cancer research in the Southampton area and we would like to urge all visitors to please give generously and BE PART OF THE CURE for breast cancer.”
