Britannia Corporate Events, one of the main marine leisure event companies in the UK, has today announced an important investment in a brand new events facility in the centre of the prominent Port Hamble Marina in Hampshire.
Britannia will relocate from its existing offices in the marina to a new event facility at No.1 Waterside Buildings. The larger, modern, waterfront facility will include dedicated regatta check-in and briefing areas, extensive car parking, meeting rooms and an events pontoon that will berth Britannia’s managed fleet of Beneteau 40.7 and Beneteau First 40 yachts.
The move signals a strong commitment from Britannia to developing its business at Port Hamble Marina over the next decade with an investment in excess of £1 million to the site over this period. The new Events Centre will safeguard six full time and over 60 freelance jobs and will also create at least two more permanent roles and a number of part-time positions. The new facilities will also provide valuable business to a number of Hampshire companies that already supply Britannia, such as catering, sail making and branding businesses.
Andy Byham, Britannia’s Managing Director, comments: “Our new Event Centre is the most exciting and prestigious venture announced by a marine events company in recent years and it will provide fantastic facilities for our clients. Our business is growing at a rate in excess of 10% per annum, bucking the current economic trend. This investment allows us to realise our ambitious plans for growth and development in the future.”
Britannia’s new Events Centre opens in May in time for its first major event of the season. Some 400 solicitors and barristers are attending the 22nd staging of ‘The Manches Cup’, the leading yachting and social event for the legal sector in the UK.
This news follows the recent announcement by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) of Britannia’s appointment as the exclusive and official provider of hospitality services at the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta taking place at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in Dorset, UK, from 4th – 9th June 2012.
