To celebrate the start of UK’s most significant sporting year, visit the 2012 Tullett Prebon London Boat Show this January. To be held at ExCeL London from January 6th to 15th, the show will present a number of Britain’s sporting personalities, which will give all the visitors the opportunity to experience a great day out and meet their favourite sporting heros.
A long list of names is confirmed including: British Sailors Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy & Andrew Simpson; Sprint Kayaker Jess Walker; K1 Slalom Kayaker Huw Swetnam and young British Freestyle Jet Ski champion Jack Moule. The Show will kick off the UK’s sporting calendar in true British style as well as supporting the nation’s best-in-class sailing and watersports champions.
The Going for Gold attraction is a must-see. The visitors will be able to see eight Olympic Class yachts used by Skandia Team GBR; from the ‘Finn’, the type of yacht used by triple Olympic medallist, Ben Ainslie – Britain’s most successful Olympic sailor ever – to the ‘Star’, the class in which the successful pairing of Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson compete.
The visitors will also be able to listen to Ben in Clarks’ Knowledge Box on Thursday at 4.30pm, and Iain and Andrew on Friday 6 at 2.10pm, giving an insider’s perspective into what this exciting summer holds for them. In amongst the Olympic-class yachts will be two British Rowing Team yachts on display, in anticipation for the rowers to be selected for the Games, along with an Olympic-class kayak and five GBR kayakers.
The visitors can test their skills on the kayak simulator, talk to some of Britain’s leading sports hopefuls, cheer them on and show their support ahead of the games this summer.
Amongst the kayaking personalities present will be:
– Lizzie Neave (GB Women’s K1 Slalom Kayaker) who will be giving demos alongside her GB team mate Huw Swetnam (GB Men’s K1 Slalom Kayaker)
– Lani Belcher and Abigail Edmonds (Britain’s 5000m sprinters) who will be giving visitors the chance to put their kayaking skills to the test.
In addition to strong turnout of sailing and watersport stars present at the Show, the visitors will also be able to meet and observe the exceptional talent of Britain’s National Jet Ski Champion, Jack Moule, who will be giving exciting adrenalin-fuelled live demos of his latest tricks out on the dock throughout the first weekend of the Show.
