To celebrate the upcoming twenty-fifth Anniversary of the Bucket Regattas from 1986-2011, the organizers of this popular yacht regatta have asked Captain Timothy Laughridge, one of the original Bucket directors, to prepare the publication of a book highlighting the Bucket Regattas’ evolution over the years. The Bucket Book will be informative as well as entertaining, celebrating an event that has established itself as a Regatta in a class by itself.
Captain Laughridge has commissioned Concepts Publishing, Inc. to produce the book. Concepts books specialize in yachting and yachting destinations and include Classic Yacht Interiors, Harbors of Enchantment, The World’s Most Extraordinary Yachts, and one of the best Caribbean yacht charter destinations – St Barths.
From Nantucket to St. Barths to Newport the Bucket has attracted a growing coterie of devoted participants. The book tells the Bucket story from the perspective of the organizing group and Race Committee. It will also include chapters on how the rating system for Megayachts was developed, the issue of safety when racing, and background information on the sponsors who contribute significantly to its success. And, of course, a review of the justly renowned Bucket parties!
The Bucket Book will devote much of its space to images. A picture is indeed worth a thousand words, and photos of the Bucket will bring the event to life in ways that no prose can touch.
