It has been a very busy spring for Britain’s largest independent ship repairer Burgess Marine in the UK, Northern France and the Mediterranean. The company has successfully completed works on the 70m Proteksan Turquoise mega yacht Talisman C, as well as the 41m Heesen charter yacht Ladyship, both refitted in the Mediterranean.
In Southampton, the company has completed the works on the 75m Peene-Werft charter yacht Leander. In Portchester, the works are currently underway on board the 57m Swiftship superyacht Tacanuya, due to be re-launched in summer, following an extensive 18-month refit. The team in HM Navy Base Portsmouth have also completed works on board the 62m Feadship-Van Lent mega yacht Virginian at Gun Wharf Quays, Portsmouth.
Furthermore, Burgess Marine docked the 65m motor yacht Shemara at its Cherbourg facility and the 42m superyacht Bystander in Portchester. Both facilities operate Rolls Royce syncrolift’s. Both dockings covered annual Class surveys as well as periods of planned maintenance.
Mr Ray Cutts, Burgess Marine’s Technical Director, comments: “The bicentenary activity in the Solent and our expertise and price point have certainly helped ensure a busy few months for the Superyacht side of our business. Works on Shemara, Bystander and Virginian are perhaps the most rewarding – it’s fantastic to see good customers returning.”
Moreover, April 2015 saw Burgess Marine’s sister company, Trafalgar Yacht Management, receive MCA approval and a five-year DoC to manage superyacht Shemara. The vessel is managed from the company’s Palma Office.
Mr Nick Jalie, Trafalgar Yacht Management’s Managing Director, comments: “The ship, crew, Shemara Refit LLP and the Canark Marine team have done a tremendous job and we’re all very proud to have been awarded a full five-year DoC.” The impressive 65m Shemara is available for a luxury mega yacht charter.
