Canados launched a new Canados 116’, a 35-metre planing motor yacht on Saturday, March 26th, 2011. The Deputy Major of Rome City, Senator Mauro Cutrufo, the Councillor to Commerce and Production Activities, Davide Bordoni, the Councillor to City planning, Marco Corsini, the President of Roma XIII City Council, Giacomo Vizzani, took part in the launch ceremony which took place at Canados yard. The latest Canados 116’ is destined for a European owner who will cruise through the Mediterranean in the coming season.
The Canados 116 is the flagship of the Canados flybridge range and is equipped with two MTU engines, each developing a power of 2400 hp, which enables a maximum speed of 29 knots and a cruising speed of 25.
The exterior design of the Canados 116 yacht was developed by the yards Technical Department, while the interior was designed by Salvagni Architetti, a Rome-based design studio. The living, the independent dining area showing a table by Saarinen and chairs by Mies van de Rohe, the kitchen by Boffi are located on the main deck, while the lower deck is destined to the owner and his guests, with the owner’s suite, a VIP and two twins, all with ensuite bathroom. The three crew cabins located forward on the lower deck and are accessed from the kitchen.
The elegant interior design combines contemporary style with some details evoking former times, as for the sofas and the taps and fittings in the bathrooms. Polished ebony and matt whitened oak were selected for the furniture, while natural bamboo for the floor. The wheelhouse located forward is a separated area on an independent deck, the flybridge was designed to enjoy open-air sailing and relax.
“It is a very important launch for us – commented Agostino Ascani, President of Canados. “The Canados 116 is a prestigious yacht and it confirms both the semi-custom tradition of our yard– about 650 motor yachts and 150 sailing boats within 60 years –and the healthy economic position of our Group despite the difficulty the marine field has been experiencing since 2008”.
The results Canados has been achieving also confirm the strategy followed since the beginning of the world financial crisis is successful. “Unlike other boatyards – said Ascani – Canados has been maintaining employment without resorting to redundancy payment and has never stopped production. In fact, designing and building are going on nonstop. Excellent results were achieved also on the Russian market: in a few days a Canados 86’ will be delivered to her Russian owner, while a brand-new Canados 120’ – designed for another Russian owner – is now under construction and will be delivered on May 2012”.
