Italian shipyard Canados has revealed the new CANADOS 919 GLADIATOR RD SERIES open yacht that can reach speeds above 52 knots, making it the fastest luxury yacht of its kind available to purchase.
The power comes from three MAN 2,000 HP engines and surface drives which produce a cruising speed of 44 knots in waters as shallow as 1.5m/4.9ft and a maximum speed at least 8 knots greater. Owners not concerned with speed can downgrade to twin MTU engines and a conventional propeller shaft. Whichever option is selected, gyro-stabilisation systems come as standard.
At 27.8m/91.2ft, the luxurious interiors can be customised by her Owners and the accommodation layout allows for a three or four cabin layout. Both choices come with a full-beam Master suite furnished with a sofa, a desk/vanity.
Exterior features include recessed sunbeds in the foredeck for an increased feeling of security, structural bulwarks that allow guests to move around even while cruising and a 9m²/96.8ft²central cockpit fitted with sunpads, sofas facing each other around coffee tables, a bar off to the side serving an alfresco dining area with an outdoor galley.
Taking inspiration from supercars, the central cockpit has a laminated glass windscreen consisting creatively of a single double-curve piece of glass that prevents airflow into the guest area even when cruising at maximum speed.
The first hull is currently in production and will be ready for launch in time for the summer 2020 cruising season, when she will make her public debut at the Monaco and Genoa yacht shows in the same year.
