One more exciting news from Italy today, as Cantiere Delle Marche announce the delivery of the Explorer Yacht Darwin Class 102’ GALEGO, which will be officially presented at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival.
GALEGO is the latest explorer yacht constructed in steel and aluminium by the CDM shipyard, measuring 31 metres (102 feet) and has a GRT of 244. Boasting naval architecture by Hydro Tec, she represents the third vessel in the 102-foot Explorer series, following in the footsteps of ACALA and BABBO. The recent delivery underlines the success of these series, which was launched only six years ago.
The yacht will now cruise the Adriatic coast, exploring various destinations, culminating in Greece and Turkey, accommodating her owner and his large family, before crossing the Atlantic Ocean following the Cannes yacht show.
GALEO features some notable customisation including those in her design as well as in the functionality. One of the features is the extended height now measuring 2.18 metres, which included the extortion of the height of all doors and windows. The technical aspects of the yacht, however, have been left unchanged and include a 12mm steel hull cupronickel piping, independent rudders, automatic generator parallel (3 generators), electric fins stabilizers, as well as wastewater treatment systems for black, gray, and bilge waters that have been adapted from the world of work ships and designed to be used 24/365.
The layout of the garage has been customised to accommodate a great range of water toys, tenders as well as a diving centre.
The sun deck boasts a spacious lounge area with a large sofa and up/down tables, a fully-equipped bar and a comprehensive open-air gymnasium with a pool.
The interior designed by Arch. Pierluigi Floris is inviting and warm, featuring walkout wood tones combined with Poltrona Frau leathers, that cover 90% of the walls around the yacht. Classical style with modern touches is the main theme aboard, with such particularities as free standing furniture pieces by Minotti and Baxter.
The galley is also very spacious and light, with white furniture and stainless steel appliances, that include a blast chiller freezer, a water dispenser and a double wash area.
The wheelhouse of GALEO has been created with a full-leather customised cockpit.
Accommodation is spread over four guest cabins: one master, one VIP and two guests, while three additional cabins are for the crew and one more of the Captain, which is located next to the cockpit. The design of the accommodation beautifully merges Hermes wallpaper, handcrafted leather, refined fabrics and stunning art pieces.
