Thursday, May 8, 2014, saw the Superyacht UK and more than 80 of its members enjoy the Cornish hospitality at the Pendennis Shipyard and the Falmouth area.
Guests arrived in the afternoon for a tour of Pendennis Shipyards current development, which has seen substantial expansion of the Falmouth facility, including the creation of two 90m and one 45m marine-facing construction halls with additional office, workshop and crew facilities. Superyacht UK would like to thank to the team at Pendennis for hosting this event; it was extremely interesting to see how the yard has developed.
Superyacht UK moved to the National Maritime Museum for the AGM and presentation from Tom Chant, outlining the past years successes and plans for the next year. Mike Carr, joint MD at Pendennis, succeeds Albert Levy as Chairman of Superyacht UK. Albert gave a rousing speech, encouraging members to use the services of Superyacht UK. Peter Brown, from Burgess, steps up as Vice Chairman. The well attended reception at the Maritime Museum was kindly sponsored by Keystone Law.
Later in the evening Superyacht UK gathered at a local restaurant for a very welcome meal. There was plenty of food, drink and networking with old and new acquaintances, kindly sponsored by BMT Nigel Gee.
On Friday, guests who had stayed in Falmouth visited Cockwells and Rustler Yachts and also had the opportunity to test one of Cockwells beautiful tenders on the water. The transport to and from the yards was kindly provided by Trimline Superyacht Interiors.
