This month’s London Boat Show has been marked by the culmination of the outstanding 2014 fundraising campaign by cycling team Cogs4Cancer, as a cheque for €285,560.06 was presented to Cancer Research UK aboard the Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht.
Marking an incredible achievement by members of the Cogs4Cancer team, who cycled from 782km from Ancona to Antibes for The Superyacht Shipyard Tour in October 2014, Ben Young, President of C4C and MD of Sunseeker Superyacht Management presented the donation to representatives of the Cancer Research UK charity on board the Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht exhibited at the show.
Joined by Sunseeker International’s Founder Robert Braithwaite CBE, who made the single largest donation on behalf of the Autumn Trust, and fellow rider and Yachting Pages MD, Steve Crowe, Ben thanked all of those who have so keenly supported C4C – from the riders to roadside assistance teams, co-workers, friends and loved ones, the support and reception of this fundraising effort has been phenomenal.
In the past 2 years, the Cogs4Cancer team, which has seen support from celebrities, yacht owners, companies and individuals from the yachting industry and beyond, has raised over €400,000 for Cancer Research UK and local French charities, Lenval Children’s Cancer Unit, Nice and ISIS Tzanck Mougins.
Congratulations must go to all of those involved in Cogs4Cancer – the determination and commitment of each and every member of the team in their collaborative fight against cancer is truly inspirational.
