Who hasn’t heard about the European ”yacht heaven” – Monaco or Italy—the home of the world most renowned yacht brands? Italian design—for those in the Industry no need to say more..
So today the organizers are proud to present Mr. Gian Battista Borea D’olmo—a Managing Director of one of the busiest ports in Monaco, Port of Monaco, and Mr. Horacio Bozzo — a prominent yacht designer, Managing Director of Axis Group Yacht Design.
Speaker: Gian Battista Borea D’olmo, Managing Director, Port of Monaco
Tentative Topic: Managing superyachts in marinas ‐ the Monaco experience
Bio: Gian Battista Borea d’Olmo started his career as a Deck Officer in the Italian Navy and continued his education in the Naval Academy in Livorno. He specialized in Missile management and sailed for seven years in the Mediterranean and in the Atlantic. He grew up in the yachting and sailing world, since his father was already a very well known yachtsman.
When he left the Navy in 1979, he ran one of the first Marinas in Sardinia and realized that no managing model existed at that time in this field. The first Marina Managing program was based on his analysis of the management of a yacht harbor.
He was a President of the Italian Association of Marinas— Asso.NAT, and a Secretary-General of the European Association of Marinas EUROMARINA. He was also member of the Board of the Marinas belonging to the Group Ferragamo.
Since 2006 he has been nominated a General Manager of the new Company SEPM in charge to run the harbors of Monaco. This Company was born thanks to the strong will of H.M. the Prince Rainier III and is owned by the Monaco Government. One of its goals is to upgrade these beautiful harbors to the needs for a Superyachts market.
In 2010 with Mr. René Bouchet, Senior expert in maritime works, Technical Advisor of the Monegasque Government, he drew up the “Guidelines for Superyachts Marinas”, a list of the technical needs for a Superyacht harbor and their suggested sizes.
