The Columbus 177 motor yacht Prima has been launched by Palumbo Shipyard in Naples, Italy in the presence of government authorities and company management. She is expected to be delivered in July this year after taking just two years at the yard to construct. The celebration of the technical launch of the megayacht PRIMA included a priest’s blessing, breaking of the champagne bottle to the sound of trumpets, accompanied by streams of confetti.
The speakers at the Prima yacht launch were the Minister for Productive Activities, Bruno Cesar, the commander of the Port of Naples, Admiral Domenico Picone, president of the Provincial Council of Naples, Louis Rispoli, the Councillor of the Province of Ocean Resource Naples, Marco di Stefano , the Director of Customs of Naples, Salvatore Falco and the mayor of Castellammare di Stabia, Luigi Bobbio and last but not least Antonio Palumbo, current Owner and CEO of Palumbo.
Superyacht Prima is the first megayacht delivered by Palumbo who currently have another superyacht called the Columbus 199 foot motor yacht under construction due for delivery in 2012. Both yachts under construction at the Palumbo shipyard are for Columbus Yachts
Prima is 53.90m motor yacht built in steel and aluminium. She was built to a design by Hydro Tec, she is ABS and RINA Green Star Plus classed, designed to respect rigorous environmental rules she offers a low fuel consumption, less noise, less pollution, etc… The interior of yacht PRIMA was designed by Tommaso Spadolini.
The yacht is able to accommodate up to 12 guests 6 cabins including a full beam master suite on the main deck with a private balcony, a VIP stateroom on the bridge deck, and four double cabins on the lower deck. All cabins have their own en suite facilities and are furnished with the highest quality Italian marbles, woods, leather and drapery.
The Columbus 177 luxury yacht PRIMA measures 53.9 meters (176’10”) with a beam of 10.2 meters and she spans 3 decks making her a very spacious superyacht. Motor yacht Prima also boasts spacious exterior deck areas ideal for relaxing or entertaining, including a large sundeck complete with a circular Spa Pool pool.
Her steel hull is grey in colour and her white superstructures built of light alloy to reduce the weight and provide high stability. The hull is round displacement type with bulge and a transom stern. She offers a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots with a maximum speed of approximately 18.5knots.
