Composite Mouldings (CML), a Southampton based boat builder, are moving to a larger factory in Marchwood Industrial Park. The new facility is 0.5miles down the road from their original factory and is a former Maritime Education and Training facility, which once housed a full size simulator mock up of a ships bridge deck.
CML are refitting the factory space, they are making the existing doors larger to accommodate superyachts up to 30m (100ft) and re-commissioning a 3 tonne traversing overhead crane, which CML says will “revolutionize its logistics”. They also have a testing lake at their disposal to test new models.
“As the company grew our old factory started to become cramped and we really struggled with space” says Managing Director, Warwick Buckley “moving is never easy but with so many exciting projects in the pipeline, everyone is very enthusiastic to get production back up and running”.
CML say once they have settled into their new facility they will be looking to increase its work force by a third.
The first phase of the refit is now complete, mainly focusing on the interior of the building. In the summer, the factory will be re-clad giving it a brand new appearance
Established in 2004, CML has steadily gained a reputation for producing high quality mouldings built under surveyed conditions. The company produce fibreglass mouldings for several government bodies as well as carbon fibre epoxy mouldings for race boats and superyachts
