Turkish Shipyard Proteksan Turquoise has had no less than three consecutive superyacht launches so far this year. The launching of the 3 yachts continues a positive growth by the Turkish shipyard into 2011. First in the water this year was motor yacht Turquoise with yacht Yogi following close behind and within week’s superyacht Talisman C was launched.
First in the water this spring was motor yacht TURQUOISE, launched on the 31st of January in Turkey. This is the second yacht called Turquoise launched from the Proteksan-Turquoise shipyard after the first ‘Turquoise’ was launched in 1994. Superyacht Turquoise is 55.4 m (182ft) in length with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. The exterior design of motor yacht Turquoise (Hull NB52) was designed by Dubois Yachts, for a repeat client and yacht owner. The yacht’s interior designer is by Hoek Design Naval Architects.
The second launch for Proteksan Turquoise in 2011 was motor yacht YOGI. Charter yacht YOGI (hull no. NB49) measures 60.20 m (197.5 ft) and is a very striking yacht combining design signatures found on expedition yachts, blended skilfully with dramatic lines and detail features. This is a triumph for the combined vision of the in-house design team at the Proteksan-Turquoise yard and accomplished designer Jean-Guy Verges who was also responsible for the stunning interior.
Charter yacht YOGI will be available for luxury Mediterranean yacht charters .
Within weeks of the launch of yacht Yogi, the impressive 72m mega yacht Talisman C was launched. H2 Yacht Design were responsible for both the exterior and interior design of this sleek new yacht, the biggest to come out of this most successful Turkish yard to date. Being the second yacht built for this owner, H2 Yacht Design incorporated many new features on the superyacht Talisman C, including tender garages, a large transom folding platform, as well as a substantial extra ‘crow’s nest’ deck on the sundeck roof to add to the already substantial deck areas.
The centre piece of the mega yacht Talisman C has to be the spiral staircase with a beautiful, custom made chandelier travelling through three floors. Inside the ‘Art Deco’ theme dominates with a rich palette of materials.
With all three Proteksan-Turquoise sister superyachts on the dock face at the Pendik shipyard excitement peaked again with the arrival of the latest yacht to be fitted out, the 72.64m Motor yacht Vicky (NB54). Superyacht Vicky arrived quietly on the Proteksan Turquoise owned floating dock to take up her position in one of the newly vacant sheds.
Proteksan Turquoise Director, Mehmet Karabeyoglu, is understandably proud of this outstanding yacht building achievement. “This is a first for us to have three new-builds on the dock at once and a perfect demonstration of our ability to deliver our brand promise because these three yachts are all on-time’.
