J Craft Boats gets off to a flying start in Monaco selling its first Torpedo powerboat within 24 hours of the opening.
The brand new, fully specified Torpedo tender is destined for the USA. Production will begin shortly at the Swedish firms manufacturing facility on the island of Gotland. The boat will be delivered to its new owner early in 2011.
Speaking at the show, J Craft’s Johan Attvik said, “Monaco is a fantastic event and even before the doors opened we knew that this was going to be a great show for J Craft. Interest in the Torpedo has been growing over the summer and we’ve been talking to a number of potential buyers on the run up to the show. The new Torpedo R boat has boosted this interest further and we expect this to continue into next year.”
Attvik continued, “It’s a great way to end a day, enjoying a glass of champagne with a new owner and friend of the brand.”
J Craft has built just eight Torpedo powerboats this year but is planning to increase world wide production in 2011 to between 12-16 hulls. The brand has enjoyed strong sales over the summer and is now looking to grow a global dealer network. The sale of its first boat to the USA precedes a broader expansion into the American market by J Craft next year.
The J Craft Torpedo is a 12-meter powerboat that can be used as a tender or as a stand-alone day boat. In September 2010, J Craft launched the Torpedo R, boasting increased power and a number of exclusive additions to the boats trim level. Both boats use twin Volvo PENTA IPS pod mounted engines, which deliver incredible power and maneuverability, propelling the Torpedo towards its maximum design speed of 50 knots and giving a range of 350 nautical miles. The Torpedo can sleep four plus one crew.
