The Superyacht Cup organisers are proud to announce sponsorship from luxury watch manufacturers Cuervo y Sobrinos. Cuervo y Sobrinos have a unique history dating back to 1882 in Havana, Cuba, infused with classic “Latin style” and influenced by the rich and varied culture of Havana in the late 1800’s. This rich tradition is carried forward to today, where the watches are now handcrafted by Cuervo y Sobrinos in Switzerland.
“We are delighted to be involved with The Superyacht Cup. The design and performance credentials so essential in our unique range of watches are reflected in the elegance and style of these amazing yachts. We are very much looking forward to supporting this special regatta in Palma,” explained Marzio Villa, CEO of Cuervo y Sobrinos.
MedAire has also confirmed sponsorship this week at the silver level. For 25 years, the company has provided medical training, onboard medical kits and remote medical care to crew and guests on yachts, business jets and airlines via its 24/7 MedLink hotline. MedAire’s yachting team will exhibit at the SYC to explain the importance of having a medical solutions provider – particularly for competitive sailors and remote ships at sea.
With only one week to go until the Palma regatta, yachts are arriving and making preparations for owners and guests. The entry list currently stands at 24 yachts and includes some of the most spectacular superyachts in the world. The Superyacht Cup dock on Muelle Viejo will be full, accommodating 18 of the yachts with six others moored in adjacent marinas close to the action in the race village.
The participating yachts in this year’s Superyacht Cup are, as usual, a wide range of sizes, designs and styles, each having been custom-built to suit owners’ individual requirements and desires. Of the fleet, 14 yachts have taken part in previous Superyacht Cup events while 10 are newcomers. The latest launch is Singularity, she was designed by Lutra and launched in Sydney from McConaghy Yachts earlier this year. The yacht has been shipped to Europe and is due to arrive in Gibraltar in the next few days. From there she will sail to Palma to prepare for her first regatta – hopefully in the nick of time.
