Damen Yachts has announced the sale of its 55m/180ft luxury yacht support vessel NEW FRONTIERS following its appearance at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in early November. Damen is now working on a new 55-metre support vessel in response to increasing demand for exploration vessels.
Completed in September 2017 using the shipyard’s patented SEA AXE hull form, luxury yacht NEW FRONTIERS was the first yacht support vessel from the shipyard to provide guest accommodation with an Owner’s suite and the main deck lounge.
Damen Yacht support vessels have recently gained public attention when UMBRA, one of the shipyard’s first support vessels, was used by Sir David Attenborough and the film crew of Blue Planet II as research vessel, a base of operations for submersibles and divers and for its helipad, which ensures that the team could search and film by air.
“Whether a mesmerising weekend dive adventure to Truk Lagoon or Cocos Island, or enjoying two locations at once linked by helicopter, or all the benefits of lots of large tenders, toys, submersibles and storage, our Yacht Support range is all about unforgettable experiences and freedom,” Commercial Director Rose Damen commented.
The sixth 55m support vessel will be ready before summer 2018 and will provide her owner with an even larger watersports store than NEW FRONTIERS.
