The first YS 53 support vessel from Damen Yachting, luxury yacht 5301, has been sold to legendary sport fisherman Anthony Hsieh to become a part of his ‘Bad Company‘ Fleet.
The YS 53 model was unveiled in February 2022 as a new generation of highly customisable support vessels with the flexibility that today’s Owners desire.
YS 5301 will be primarily based in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, acting as a home and hub for activities which will include fishing in relatively unchartered waters and supporting several marine conservation projects. Onboard will be a 13m/43ft Release Game boat as well as the 9.7m/32ft BLACKFIN, the first game fishing boat purchased by Mr Hsieh over 30 years ago. She was recently purchased and refurbished to join the adventure.
A 15-tonne deck crane (33,000 pounds) will launch and retrieve both fishing boats, while below deck a pair of engines will produce a maximum speed of 19 knots. YS5301 will be fully IMO Tier III compliant to reduce harmful emissions by 70%.
There is room on board for 6-16 guests and staff, with a crew of 11 to provide their expertise.
The 53m/175ft support yacht will be delivered in 2023 and will become a part of the Owner’s unique and extensive private fishing programme, designed to inspire a whole new generation of sport fishers and benefit the sporting, yachting and fishing industries in the process.
