Dixon Yacht Design has unveiled additional details of the 46 metre performance deck saloon yacht project first revealed to the public at the Monaco Yacht Show. The 46-metre Dixon yacht represents the way the team at Dixon Yacht Design see the future of performance cruisers in this size range; modern, sporty and comfortable.
The 46m sailing yacht by Dixon Yacht Design addresses the issues that have to be faced when putting together the design of a modern performance sailing yacht, balancing new technologies with a customer’s desire for a yacht which is extremely comfortable for cruising.
One of the key features of the design is the low profile deck saloon which has an integrated bimini over the cockpit. Gone are the days of ugly biminis of canvass and stainless to be replaced on this yacht with a modern integrated design.
Dixon Yacht Design has always been at the forefront of the development of different leisure areas on the deck of their yachts. Today the deck can be divided into several leisure areas designed to be used at different times, depending on whether the yacht is under sail or at anchor. This particular 46 has a recessed ‘beach’ area aft with direct access from the owner’s cabin. It provides a large and very comfortable private space which, with its large bathing platform down, becomes a great water sports and leisure area.
For a yacht of her size this 46 metre Dixon performance cruiser project has a very spacious interior with the owners suite and three further guest cabins aft, and a further 4th guest cabin/study forward. Already well known for their abilities to maximise interior space the Dixon team recently improved further upon their own achievements thanks to the highly successful telescopic keel design they have developed. This design, which is already in service on several yachts, provides all the benefits of variable draft but with no intrusion into the interior living space of the vessel.
Although just a concept at the moment Dixon Yacht Design are in serious discussions with several potential owners for this new design or for close derivatives of it.
