Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) is proud to announce its participation in the 2014 Posidonia Exhibition, scheduled for 2-6 June, 2014 in the popular Greece luxury yacht charter destination – Athens, in the Eastern Mediterranean. DMCA will present Dubai’s leading expertise as a world-class international maritime centre.
This move is part of DMCA’s commitment to create channels for transferring knowledge and exchanging expertise with leading regional and international industry players, in order to promote Dubai’s competitiveness and position it among the world’s top maritime centres.
Amer Ali, Executive Director of DMCA, emphasized the importance of participating in the 2014 Posidonia Exhibition. “DMCA will shed light on the strategically important Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy (DMSS), the first plan of its kind in Dubai aimed at regulating, developing and promoting the maritime industry under the highest standards of excellence, creativity, innovation, human investment and environmental protection. It will be vital to creating a secure and vibrant maritime industry that can drive sustainable economic development,” he said.
“We look forward to discussing the key pillars of DMSS which will take advantage of the Emirate’s various strengths such as its strategic location, prosperous economy, healthy investment environment, and integrated maritime legislations. We will also underscore other factors such as growing imports and exports and financing and brokerage, all of which are poised to add more value and comprehensiveness to Dubai’s maritime community,” he added.
“Posidonia Exhibition 2014 is of particular importance as a leading interactive platform aimed at encouraging communication among decision makers from across the world’s maritime industries. It will discuss the latest developments and best practices to overcome emerging challenges and create a bright outlook for the future. DMCA’s participation will focus on Dubai’s experience as one of the world’s major hubs for maritime trade in view of its strategic location as a gateway between East and West, in addition to its highly competitive logistics services, investment environment, advanced infrastructure, and tax exemption.”
Theodore Vokos, Executive Director at Posidonia Exhibitions S.A., said: “Dubai is known for being a major hub for marine navigation and trade, connecting Asian markets with Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Over the past few years it has emerged as a leading regional and international port, supported by high-level technical and logistics services and advanced infrastructure. DMCA is, without a doubt, the solid foundation on which Dubai’s maritime industry is growing and prospering. Its efforts to develop new laws and legislations that support its ambitious approach to create the required investment environment to attract industry leaders from all over the world are unparalleled.”
“We are certain that DMCA’s participation will be a great addition to the Posidonia 2014 exhibition which will gather international maritime industry leaders over five consecutive days of extensive discussions and high-level interactive activities,” Vokos added.
“We are eager to hash out Dubai’s Maritime Sector Strategy which has brought about a positive change in the maritime industry through a series of initiatives. These include the issuance of new legislations and regulations under the highest standards of maritime safety and best environmental practices, as well as local and international resolutions that govern marine operations management. It further aims to develop a competitive infrastructure and lay down an integrated logistics program to create a safe and sustainable maritime environment. This environment will be able to effectively respond to market changes and emerging trends by attracting regional and international investors to leverage Dubai’s rapidly growing footprint as a key player in the global maritime map,” concluded Ali Al Daboos, Executive Director – operations, Dubai Maritime City Authority.
Held once every two years, Posidonia serves as one of the world’s most prestigious maritime events.
