The world-renowned superyacht design studio, Dubois Naval Architects, is pleased to confirm that they will be once again supporting the Pendennis Cup. The 2014 edition of this popular event will be held in May.
Every two years the Pendennis Cup, organised by Pendennis Shipyard, takes place in Falmouth providing the opportunity for large superyachts to experience the challenging conditions of racing in UK waters. This year’s Regatta, from 26th-31st May, will see an exciting fleet with between 10-15 yachts competing over the four days of racing.
The largest yacht, mega yacht Adix, is an impressive 62m, and Dubois is delighted to welcome her back for the first time since the inaugural Cup. She will be competing against some of the world’s most beautiful yachts including last year’s winner superyacht Mariette, Pendennis built yachts luxury yacht Christopher and sailing yacht Rebecca, alongside returning yachts Velacarina yacht and luxury yacht Breakaway. A fleet of five smaller classic yachts, known as the Little Dennis Cup, will also be racing alongside the superyacht fleet, which is set to include Ed Dubois-designed sailing yacht Firebrand and Kelpie of Falmouth yacht.
At the beginning and end of each day’s racing (with a course that runs between ‘Gull Rock’ in the north to ‘The Manacles’ in the south) the full fleet will be visible at Port Pendennis Marina, located next to the National Maritime Museum. The hospitality suite will be housed in a marquee in Events Square, adjoining the marina providing the public with an overview of the event as well as screening video footage of the each day’s racing action.
