Dunya Yachts is delighted to announce that motor yacht Axioma (ex Red Square) has been shortlisted for the World Superyacht Award 2014 in the ‘Displacement Motoryacht 1,300 – 1,999GT’ category. Following her huge success at the Monaco Yacht Show 2013, the impressive 72,5m displacement superyacht Axioma joins the ranks of the finest luxury yachts handed over in 2013 to be considered for one of the prominent Neptune Awards.
Luxury yacht Axioma is the debut launch for Tuzla-based Dunya Yachts and the remarkable result of a truly global collaboration, with exterior styling from Sterling Scott and interior design from the late Alberto Pinto. Sedat Ergün, President of Dunya Yachts, highlights the perfectionist attitude to creating the first build from the yard, and the importance of working with the best suppliers and craftsmen in the business, as key to her appeal.
“We are thrilled with the impact that M/Y Axioma has made, and feel that she represents the quality and beauty that is expected from the best superyacht professionals in the world,” said Ergün. “We worked with some of the most experienced brains and craftsmen in the business to create a world-class vessel that will continue to be a showcase of what the Dunya Yachts brand can achieve. M/Y Axioma is the standard-bearer for our pedigree.”
When it came to mega yacht Axioma’s design, the team chose to spotlight bold style as well as practicality. The vessel’s exterior provides guests with a wide choice of both private and convivial spaces across four decks. Two generous pools, expansive lounging space and dining areas aft are complemented by secluded lounging and dining area on the bridge deck and a private terrace forward of the master cabin.
With a design brief of ‘beach house style’, the celebrated late designer Alberto Pinto chose a modern yet comfortable combination of natural woods and sumptuous soft furnishings. As his last superyacht project, Axioma yacht is testament to Pinto’s outstanding talents and will surely have a strong impact on the jury of World Superyacht Award judges.
Dunya Yachts’ daring debut, which was completed on spec by the yard and sold during the Monaco Yacht Show, features many revolutionary shifts for the general layout of a vessel of this size. These were made possible by the painstaking attention to detail from the yard’s management team and Ergün himself. Most striking is the main salon’s double-deck gallery, providing a sense of vast space and light usually reserved for large land-based residences.
For practical purposes, Dunya Yachts brought the gym, spa and steam room up from the lower decks to provide a more inviting environment for guests, and moved the movie theatre to the lower deck. All guest suites have been brought up to the main deck, with expansive windows to showcase the stunning views of the water. Superyacht Axioma sleeps 12 guests in six suites, including a full beam master suite with panoramic
views forward.
The World Superyacht Awards finalists, chosen by the Boat International Media expert teams, will now be considered by a jury of 21 judges including 19 superyacht owners. The awards ceremony to announce the winners will take place at a spectacular gala on 3 May at Amsterdam’s Het Scheepvaartmuseum, the National Maritime Museum, in Holland. The event, now in its ninth year, is attended by superyacht owners and the leading names of the superyacht industry.
This award nomination announcement is not the first for Axioma superyacht. She has been named as a finalist for ShowBoats International’s Golden Neptune Awards, the winners of which will be announced at a gala hosted atthe Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Austria on 24 February.
“Considering the superb vessels launched by world renowned builders in 2013, we are honoured to be included as a finalist, particularly as M/Y Axioma is our first launch,” added Ergün. “Whatever the results in May, we are proud to have her representing us on the world’s oceans”.
