Adam Lay Studio is excited to announce that their latest sailing yacht ‘Inukshuk’ has been awarded the ‘Best Sailing Yacht in her class (30m to 39.99m)’ as well as ‘Sailing Yacht of the Year’ at the 2014 World Superyacht Awards. The event took place in the fascinating setting of Amsterdam’s National Maritime Museum on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
Huge congratulations to superyacht Inukshuk’s owner and to the entire Inukshuk team including Georges Bourgoignie, Mark von Drashek, Nigel Ingram, German Frers and Baltic Yachts, not forgetting the Adam Lay Studio’s fabulous team of expert suppliers. Big thanks to Boat International for a truly memorable evening. Adam Lay thanks also go to the judges comprised of a distinguished panel of superyacht owners and industry experts.
This duo of awards follows-on from an equally successful Showboats Design Awards which were held in Kitzbuhel, Austria in February. Luxury yacht Inukshuk won both the Interior Design Award and the Exterior Design & Styling Award. Adam Lay thanks again to the judges, in this case a panel of their design industry peers as well as superyacht owners.
As stated by Adam Lay Studio: “We think our approach to yacht design is unique. For the Inukshuk project we fully immersed ourselves in the owner’s design brief studying native trees, flora and fauna, rocks and boulders and the lichen that grows on them. We personally tailor our designs to suit our clients’ design brief, meaning every interior we produce is different; the common thread being Adam’s hand-drawn and hands-on approach combined with safety, practicality and quality. In the case of Inukshuk’s ottoman ‘boulders’, Adam sculpted them himself from light-weight foam and had Parkway Interiors complete them with a fibreglass skin and a speckled painted finish to look like the granite boulders from the owner’s favourite place in the world.”
