Dutch shipyard Moonen Yachts has entered new Australian ownership.

Moonen superyacht Project Martinique

Husband and wife team Matthew and Louise Baxter first came across Moonen in Sydney’s Pittwater Harbour, where the Moonen 84 model luxury yacht AURORA was moored at the time. This led to an interest in the company and they became involved with Moonen and its team of professionals.

Matthew established A M Group in 1972, a privately owned worldwide group on manufacturing companies of which he is executive chairman.

“It is a privilege to own a yard like Moonen,” Matthew Baxter said of the purchase. “The brand has an impeccable pedigree, the yachts are true Dutch quality and the team is young, reliable, talented, and very loyal to the company. These characteristics are fundamental for success. I realise that the yard has to re-energise, but we are well prepared with a strong strategic plan and a strong balance sheet, I see a promising future ahead.”

Currently Moonen have one award-winning 36m/118ft Martinique model in build which is currently on schedule for a public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2020.
