The program for the eagerly awaited Global Superyacht Forum 2015, set to take place from November 16 to 18 in Amsterdam, has been announced. The 21st edition of the event, expected to be the best yet, will be defined over three days as The Investors, The Innovators and The Inspirations.
Day One: The Investors
The first day of the event will concentrate on the effective strategies that will make the superyacht industry the best it can be. A host of experts from the superyacht market will look into what new investments mean for the superyacht world. Following Martin H. Redmayne’s annual State of the Industry address, market influencers Fred van Beers, CEO of Blohm + Voss, Paolo Casani of Camper & Nicholsons International, Sergei Dobroserdov, Dynamiq Yachts and Guillaume Roche of Sunrise Yachts will take part in a discussion called ‘Investing for The Future’ to see how we can make the superyacht market stronger. The panel presentation ‘Superyacht Valuations’ will see Martin Baum of Pantaenius and Paul Miller from Yachtsure24 discuss the direct and indirect effects of valuations on the superyacht industry and the day will come to an end with ‘ReguLegacy’ with Chris van Hooren, SYBAss, to discuss his thirty years of experience with regulations.
Smaller sessions will be taking part simultaneously during Day 1, to discuss hybrid yachts, superyacht duty of care, cleaner fuel for superyachts and the formula for successful coatings.
Day Two: The Innovators
Emerging, revolutionary technologies, concepts and products will be discussed on Day 2. The opening panel discussion ‘Next Generation Projects’ will feature the Magma Structures team behind the innovative masts for Sailing Yacht ‘A’, while composite specialist Rudy Jurg, Gurit and naval architect Thys Nikkels of Dykstra Naval Architects will look at challenging traditional methods of shipbuilding and building the next generation of superyachts. In the afternoon, three creative geniuses will take to the stage for ‘Putting the Fun back into the Fundamentals’, Rob Henderson of UNStudio, Marnix Hoekstra, Vripack and bespoke Danish designer Johannes Torpe, to put the fun back into how we think about yacht design. 10 focus groups and workshops will be held on Tuesday, discussing the future of fuels, security, connectivity, yacht management and many more pertinent industry topics.
Day Three: The Inspirations
The last day of the event will see inspirational leaders, thought provoking debates, blue sky thinking and more, as the audience is motivated to question age-old traditions, think organically and develop fresh ideas. The first session, ‘Yachts of the Sky’ will host three experts from the aviation industry, Robert Baltus, Executive Jet Management (NetJets), Jim Dixon, Andrew Winch Designs and Conrado Dornier, Dornier Seawings. What can we take away from this sector and apply to the world of superyachts? A closing keynote session will be marked by a presentation from inspirational adventurer and expedition leader Justin Packshaw. ‘Above and Beyond Human Boundaries’ will examine how we can push the limits of our achievement – how can we apply these practices to everyday life?
Four focus groups will discuss superyacht fiscal issues, challenge stale business practices with disruptive thinking, as well as the future of superyachts and will see how regulations change the superyacht industry’s designs.
