At the official prize giving ceremony at the Royal Ocean Racing Club in London, Igor Simčič, owner of the Esimit Europa 2 yacht, was recognized for his crew’s success at the recently running Rolex Fastnet Race.
Namely, superyacht Esimit Europa 2 crossed the finish line first among over 340 yachts at the 608-nautical-mile biennial challenge and therefore secured its 25th consecutive monohull line honours victory.
For this great achievement, Igor Simčič was awarded with the Rolex chronometer, while he was also presented with the “Erivale Trophy” for the first yacht home in the IRC Canting Keel Class and the “Irish Lights Trophy” for being the first IRC yacht rounding the Fastnet Rock.
Moreover, Igor Simčič was extended the invitation to the Royal Ocean Racing Club exclusive membership as a recognition for his outstanding sailing results.
“I would like to thank the commodore of the Royal Ocean Racing Club, Mike Greville, and Club’s CEO Edward Warden Owen for their hospitality tonight and the invitation to the Club membership. I am proud on my crew, which did an amazing job at the recent Rolex Fastnet Race, therefore I dedicate the trophies to each and one of them. At the same time I am honoured by the Club’s invitation. I understand the upcoming admittance to the one of the most renowned sailing clubs in the world as a big recognition for me not just because of our sailing results, but also as an acknowledgement to the core values of the Esimit Europa project,” stated Igor Simčič during the prize giving ceremony.
