Superyacht NJORD will be the world’s largest superyacht (291m / 954 feet) when complete and will feature 117 private residences across 13 decks, boast a crew of 300 and offer six distinct restaurants plus numerous health and wellbeing facilities. She will operate around the world to create a true home from home but also provide vital research data from her wide range of on board scientific oceanographic technology.
As the project progresses focus is turning to the luxurious fit and finish and British design studio Neal Jones Furniture has been given a letter of intent to supply all the exterior furniture. We’ll share a sneak peek at the renderings for some of the designs and learn what makes yacht furnishings and this project so unique.
Teak is an absolute must for exterior marine furniture – both for its luxury look and feel, and its water-resistant properties. The designs feature the signature Neal Jones Furniture chair back shape which is modelled on the prow of a ship giving a beautifully elegant form.
“We’ve worked very hard to get these pieces refined to such a pure and elegant design that will look at home on any of the residence’s terraces and decks,” says Neal, founder and creative director of Neal Jones Furniture (NJF). “Ocean Residences are very keen to have the vessel looking 10/10 every single time it comes into port and luxurious, consistent exterior furniture is a key part of that and featured heavily in our brief.”
Founder, Chairman and CEO of Ocean Residences Kristian Stensby commented, “It’s a great feeling to now be at the stage where we can really begin to showcase how luxurious this vessel is going to be and we are thrilled to have Neal and his experienced team on board.”
