Fabio Perini, founder of the Perini Navi Group, has been given the Piacenza Cashmere Yacht Capital Award 2011, an exclusive award for the recognition of the commitment, the involvement and the determination with which the Perini Navi Group, as well as, the shipbuilding in Italy in general have obtained a prominent award recognised all over the world. The award ceremony was organised at Genoa’s Yacht Club Italiano’s renowned clubhouse on Saturday, October 1.
“Thanks to all of you,” said Cavaliere Fabio Perini during the award ceremony, “even though I think that the shipyard workers and the staff are really the people who deserve this award”.
Fabio Perini is the founder of the Perini Navi Group, world leader in the construction of large sailing yachts. Since the 1980’s the company has been specialized in the designing, engineering and marketing of large sailing yachts built for “easy sailing”. This Perini Navi philosophy calls for large yachts that can be handled easily by minimal crew thanks to a series of innovative systems that allow for totally automated sail handling. In 2007 the Group also began to build motor yachts with the brand name Picchiotti.
The award ceremony, organized by the Italian magazine Yacht Capital, a publication that has always kept the promotion of Italian shipbuilding abroad as a high priority, was planned to coincide with the 150th anniversary of united Italy to empathize the commitment, the involvement and the determination with which the Italian shipbuilding sector has pursued the high levels of worldwide regard that it enjoys today.
