Motor yacht PROJECT 817 – Feadship’s ground-breaking new ‘green’ yacht – has been seen for the first time since construction began. The 94m custom yacht, also known as superyacht VIVA, recently left the Feadship yard in Kaag, giving onlookers a glimpse of the sleek, elegant exterior design from De Voogt and Azure.
Environmentally-friendly measures were at the top of the owner’s requirement list, and Feadship have definitely delivered on this. The yacht is installed with an advanced hybrid propulsion system, meaning she can travel at 12 knots on diesel-electric power in sensitive areas. While in this mode, there is a Tier III catalytic converter as well as diesel particle filters to treat all emissions, thereby protecting the pristine locations she will travel to.
Other green initiatives installed include a waste treatment plant and heat recovery systems. With her ceiling to floor windows, extra thought and planning had to go into the air conditioning system, so as to best avoid excessive power consumption. These measures taken make Project 817 truly a ‘green dream!’
Aside from her state-of-the-art eco-friendly technology, she is also an exceptional superyacht in all aspects. Her 94m length and 13.6m beam ensure plenty of accommodation space, as well as vast living areas. Her huge windows complement the beach-style interior, provided by Peter Marino Architects. More details and photos of her interior and layout will be coming soon after sea trials have been completed.
