One of the best luxury motoryacht builders in the world, the respected Dutch shipyard Feadship, has received four major awards in a week, demonstrating once again the Dutch brand’s ability to consistently set new standards in quality as well as comfort. At the World Superyacht Awards ceremony on 5 May, Feadship was the only yard to receive three prizes comprising the prominent Motor Yacht of the Year award, going to the spectacular 77.7m superyacht Tango. This amazing performance was followed up five days later with another prize at the Asia Boating Awards for the 87.78m megayacht Musashi.
“Although we have every confidence in our ability to deliver the best possible custom superyachts to our clients, it is always a great honour to receive such recognition from our industry and media peers,” says Feadship marketing manager Francis Vermeer. “Moreover, the fact that the awards have been given for yachts in the range from 88 to 45 metres in length is further testimony to the perfect craftsmanship that underpins every Feadship. They are also a tribute to our clients, who enjoy the entire building experience to such an extent that success is assured.”
At the World Superyacht Awards in Istanbul, the 77.7m luxury yacht Tango was honoured with the Motor Yacht of the Year distinction. “Tango has taken the styling of large superyachts a step forward, combining a new and elegant appearance with supreme engineering and construction,” reported the judging panel, which also praised the Feadship’s well-considered layout on both her exterior decks and distinguished interior. Tango also won the award for Displacement Motor Yacht of 1,300 to 2,999 GT. The judges for this prize were impressed by the yacht’s “bold new exterior style, superb quality of construction, and stylish yet highly comfortable interior spaces.”
The third prize for Feadship at the World Superyacht Awards was granted to the 45m superyacht Helix, which is currently on a ground-breaking tour of the Far East that includes Hong Kong, Hainan, Singapore and Jakarta. The judging panel for the Displacement Motor Yacht below 500 GT award wrote the following: “In a tightly contested class, Helix represents a particularly well-constructed vessel with a wide range of facilities and an interior that appeals to a wide range of tastes.”
Last but by no means least, the 87.78m Feadship megayacht Musashi won the Best Custom Built Yacht category at the Asia Boating Awards on 10 May. Feadship director Bas Nederpelt travelled to Hong Kong to gratefully accept this prestigious prize at a ceremony in Hong Kong that reinforced the growing importance of the Asian market for the superyacht industry. Musashi is named after a legendary samurai warrior and offers an inspirational synthesis of Japanese design and art deco-style elements. Creating a new benchmark for a five-deck superyacht, she is a superlative example of the complete flexibility clients enjoy when embarking on a purely custom project at Feadship.
