In order to support a very expensive research to cure cancer, Alpe d’HuZes was created to raise funds to fight cancer by cycling up the Alpe d’Huez in France six times in one day. The name, Alpe d’Huzes, is a combination of the Dutch word for “six” and the name of the mountain.
Team Sevenstar, consisting of 8 riders all working for Sevenstar/Spliethoff, will try to raise as much money as they can to support this fight against cancer. On the 6th of June 2013 the 8 riders of the S/S Team will try to climb the famous Tour de France mountain l’Alpe d’Huez.
In the fight against cancer, both patients and their loved ones feel a huge sense of helplessness. Too often fighting seems pointless. One in three people develop cancer at some stage in their life. Alpe d’HuZes was created with the aim to empower people to convert the sense of powerlessness caused by cancer into one of strength and perseverance. This is achieved by motivating as many people as possible to constantly challenge and expand their boundaries. Alpe d’HuZes is founded on the absolute belief that one can get the greatest possible satisfaction if he puts his heart and soul into helping others.
