Silver Arrows Marine, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Style, is thrilled to reveal the final design as well as specification of the “Silver Arrow of the seas” superyacht tender concept at the Monaco Yacht Show 2013. Featuring plenty of the hallmark design features of Mercedes-Benz automobiles, mixed up with a radical new approach to luxury motor yacht functionality and aesthetics, the debut yacht is to be called ARROW460-Granturismo.

As the order books open, Silver Arrows Marine can confirm the highly contemporary new yacht’s price tag. ARROW460-Granturismo yacht tender will launch initially with an exclusive, limited-edition fully equiped version called Edition 1 which will cost €1.25 million plus VAT, with the first yachts delivered to customers in 2015.
Final interior and exterior designs from Mercedes- Benz Style, along with a two-metre scale model of the finished yacht, are being displayed for the first time at the Monaco Yacht Show. ARROW460-Granturismo mega yacht tender will be unlike anything else on the water, living up to its billing as the “14 metre motor yacht designed and built like a superyacht”.
Fulfilling the Silver Arrows Marine dream to build a yacht that blends the best from the automotive and marine worlds, ARROW460-Granturismo yacht tender boasts the unmistakable dynamism and elegance of a top-ofthe-range Mercedes-Benz car. The final designs also reveal the yacht’s many innovations, now confirmed for production following 12 months of development and testing since the first concept ideas were shown in Monaco a year ago.

The design of the motor yacht for production has stayed remarkably close to the concept shown one year ago. With its long foredeck, a flowing, arched roofline and the Mercedes-Benz hallmark of a descending line to the rear, the design is inspired by classic automobile proportions. The muscular, stretched hull is dynamic but not aggressive, sophisticated but not subject to fashion.

ARROW460-Granturismo superyacht tender offers a new dimension in motor yacht versatility, merging inside and outside areas so everyone can enjoy the view and the sea air. Car-like electric opening side windows and a glass roof, the forward section of which rises up to create a “glass pergola” effect, are features. To ensure maximum comfort levels, the roof is made of “smart” glass that automatically controls light penetration depending on the intensity of the sun. The effect is to fill the large open-plan interior with light and open it up to the outside world in a manner more akin to loft living than anything offered previously by a boat in this class.
Mercedes-Benz Style’s innovative cabin concept avoids an ordinary motor yacht’s compartmentalized interior and provides instead a spacious relaxing area for up to 10 people. This area can be easily transformed into a large dining room or bedroom suite – the latter complete with king size bed. Both dining table and bed are normally concealed, electrically sliding into position only when needed. Superior comfort and total privacy are assured by a luxurious bathroom unit and separate utility room.

The outstanding multifunctionality of ARROW460-Granturismo yacht tender makes the yacht suitable for both day trips and overnight excursions. As on the outside, the interior shows all the hallmark values of Mercedes-Benz, featuring materials such as nubuck leather, eucalyptus wood panelling and synthetic mesh. With soft, sweeping shapes, exceptional detailing and sophisticated colour combinations, the yacht delivers a whole new aesthetic for a boat in this class.
The special Edition 1 versions will come as standard with extensive features to enrich the lifestyle experience. As well as air-conditioning and premium audio system, the yacht will be equipped with built-in chilled wine storage, an ice-making machine and a dishwasher. Integral to the yacht is an air compressor system for the easy inflation of tenders and water toys.
Full walkaround access on the outside is provided, with handrails integrated into the design demonstrating the superb attention to detail Mercedes-Benz Style has achieved. Adjustable sun loungers are built into the foredeck. In the stern, a hydraulically-powered platform extends deck space as and when required, providing one of ARROW460-Granturismo’s signature features: its “terrace on the sea”. The large relaxing area, offering unimpeded access for swimming and watersports, is complemented by a flexible “deckchair” concept, confirming the boat as the most sociable of motor yachts.
The yacht’s large and welcoming entertaining space is enhanced by a floor with very few steps and easy connectability between all areas of the boat. The decking, which is normally of wood in classic boatbuilding, is made from a synthetic material which extends the creative scope and has made an entirely new look possible.
For the first time, Silver Arrows Marine can confirm details of the hull and the power system following months of prototype testing in a development program that has had more in common with the automobile than marine industry. Remaining faithful to Silver Arrows Marine’s aim, the yacht achieves high performance but without compromising comfort.
ARROW460-Granturismo superyacht tender will be powered by two diesel engines developing 353 kW (480hp) each. Cruising speed is around 28 knots with a top speed in light seas of around 40 knots. Performance of the special planing hull developed for ARROW460-Granturismo has been optimized using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to achieve not just high speeds but all-round comfort along with the highest standards of seaworthiness.
The hull features deep-V lines in the forward part for good handling, three intermediate spray rails to deflect the water as much as possible and special propeller tunnels to allow for a conventional shaftline configuration.
The Edition 1 version of the first Granturismo of the seas can be ordered directly from Silver Arrows Marine for delivery in 2015.
