After the recent Management Buy-Out at Ocean Yacht Systems, the new owners are pleased with the responses they have had within the industry as well as the recent orders received.
There has been little rest since the announcement in May, with the Directors ensuring the changes to the ownership do not impact with the daily running, delivery dates and customer interaction.
OYS has been working on the recent flurry of orders which includes the commissioning of the new RDE-0650 model, the 90kw/120hp swing deploying thruster is the first in a series be supplied to the 60m Perini Navi mega yacht Seahawk (hull C.2193). Further to this, they have also been awarded a contract to supply units for the new 70m superyacht Sybaris (Hull C.2227), currently in build, totalling three RDE (Rim Driven Electric) thrusters to Perini Navi in a two year period.
Closer to home, during 2011/12 OYS worked on two significant contracts with Pendennis Shipyard. This relationship has strengthened with a new order recently received for a thruster on a classic motor yacht that is currently undergoing a major re-build at their Falmouth base.
Another local project for OYS is to supply a vertical retracting custom lightweight thruster for the 78ft carbon performance catamaran yacht APC 78 underway at Green Marine. OYS has been brought to meet the specific thruster requirements of the project such as weight, size, and space available. This project is due for launch in 2014 and is weight critical.
Across the water, OYS have also received another order for a fixed tunnel electric 200hp unit for a new 59m Motor Yacht Hull T-062 project underway at Trinity Yachts, USA. This continues on from the very successful commissioning of the Trinity Yachts 74m earlier this year.
The future is looking positive for the UK based company, with these latest orders across their divisions as well as their on-going service work. All OYS products are custom designed, engineered and manufactured at their headquarters in Christchurch, UK.
