Fortabat Yacht Design, a specialised luxury sailing yacht and expedition yacht designer company, is celebrating 10 years in business. With more than 25 yachts designed and refitted to date, Fortabat Yacht Design is based in Nice, in the beautiful Mediterranean yacht charter destination French Riviera.
Run by 37-year-old Alexandre Fortabat, the agency recently expanded its expertise into conversions. Alexandre helped convert luxury superyacht Mystere Shadow, a 1980s oil rig support vessel, which was converted into a 50m luxury exploration yacht with toys garage and rear beach platform. The vessel was nominated for the “Refit of the Year” award at the 2012 World Superyacht Awards.
Other recent Fortabat Yacht Design projects include the outstanding refit of the 70m motor yacht Reborn and the luxury conversion of a former fisheries patrol vessel into exceptional exploration yacht Enigma XK (ex Norna), which was recently awarded t”he Conversion of the Year” award at the 2014 by World Superyacht Awards.
Quite a long way since 2004, but Alexandre’s first project, yacht Allures, a 100′ luxury catamaran, still stands today as one of the world’s most high-speed luxury catamarans.

Graduated from the famous Southampton Institute with Honours and a specialisation on aero-hydrodynamics of sailing, Alexandre Fortabat has been working a few years for different design offices on many projects ranging from small sailing yachts to cruise ships.
