After four days of intense racing, the winners of the Rolex Swan Cup Caribbean 2017 have been decided, with Don Macpherson’s Swan 90 Freya and Leonardo Ferragamo’s ClubSwan 50 Cuordileone seeing off all competition to take top spots on the podium.
YCCS Commodore Riccardo Bonadeo commented on what sets the Rolex Swan events apart from other regattas throughout the year:
“What makes the Rolex Swan Cup events in Porto Cervo and here in the Caribbean so special – in addition to the enduring partnership between YCCS, Rolex and Nautor’s Swan – is the way the Swan family comes together. We have classic and new boats here, large and small yachts, world-class professional sailors and amateur crews of friends and family – but what they all have in common is their passion for these boats and for sailing and we are pleased to share that passion.”
Entrants ranged from 13.5 metres up to 35 metres, and the 18 strong fleet boasted tried and tested names including Shamanna and Sayula, launched in 1973 and the oldest competitor in direct contrast to Earlybird, a Clubswan 50 christened only last week.
Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is holding its 50th Anniversary regatta today and the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous will take place from the 10th to the 13th of March.
