The H2X shipyard has been working on the construction of the first Blue Coast Yacht maxi-catamaran, the Blue Coast 95’. From the naval architectural firm of Coste Design & Partners, this exceptional vessel is scheduled for delivery by the end of Summer 2010.

H2X's first maxi-catamaran Blue Coast 95'

The Blue Coast 95’ catamaran heralds the first generation of custom sailing yachts offered by the Blue Coast design team.Built with the latest high tech materials these maxi-catamarans are designed for long-distance cruising. The 95’ will
be one of the largest catamarans in the world. Architect Jean-Jacques Coste has focused his attention on
marrying volume and living space to create a luxurious blend of comfort, performance, pleasure and safety.

Due to its light weight configuration (55 tons) and hydraulic operating systems, the Blue Coast 95’ promises great
performances at sea: speed, suppleness and elegance in all weather conditions. Its long and narrow twin hulls
make this maxi-catamaran remarkably stable both underway and at anchor even in rough seas.

The catamaran Blue Coast 95’ is also equipped with a roller furling boom developed in partnership with French mast makers Petit Jean Composites and H2X.

As with all Jean-Jacques Coste designs, the rigging is simple and efficient. The sails by North Sails include a self-rolling Solent jib, a Gennaker, as well as an innovative and high-performance 235sq meter roller furling Mainsail. In addition, the vessel’s minimum draft allows for shallow coastal cruising, which
is often difficult if not impossible for similar-sized monohulls.

The 95’s classic elegance is the result of collaboration between Jean-Jacques Coste, the firm’s interior designer,
Franck Delabarre, and the owner’s express wishes in terms of decor and use of space.

The yacht’s layout includes the following:

Exterior: a covered aft lounge with bar; an hydraulic swim platform for easy launching of the tender and other watersport equipment; a flybridge, a Spa Pool, a second bar, an outdoor galley and a spacious sunbathing area.

Interior: a large salon, the owner’s suite with panoramic views, and an interior helm station.

To starboard: storage of the watersport equipment, the starboard engine room, two guest cabins with ensuite bathrooms, and owner’s bathroom.

To port: storage of the diving equipment, the port engine room, galley, guest cabin with ensuite bath, crews quarters
and mess.

The design of the Blue Coast 95’ catamarn seduced a European businessman who placed an order for constructions of the vessel in spring of 2009. One of the main challenges was to find the right partners – shipyard and equipment
providers – capable of meeting the challenge of completing its construction by 2010, in just under 18 months.

After some deliberation, the choice came down to the H2X shipyard in la Ciotat, France. As it is one of the few shipyards capable of handling the technology and processes necessary for the construction of a composite maxicatamaran.

The hull of Blue Coast 95’ yacht is built of sandwiched fiberglass composite, carbon fiber, PVC mousse and epoxy
resin. The structural elements (the longest of which measures 28 meters) are made using the “one shot”
vacuum bagging system. It is a delicate procedure that requires experience, precision and know-how. The
H2X shipyard is the leading expert in this single infusion technology, which produces flawless molds and
saves considerable construction time.
