Gleistein Ropes sets sail for the 19th annual METS (Marine Equipment Trade Show) being held in Amsterdam from 16-18 November 2010. On the occasion of what is widely regarded as the world’s foremost trade fair for the marine equipment industry, Gleistein will celebrate the company’s continued involvement with PUMA Ocean Racing as “Official Rope Supplier” throughout the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012. Over three packed days during METS, visitors to the Gleistein stand will naturally also be able to check out the latest extensive range of rope solutions for the global yacht and super yacht markets. A team of specialists will be on hand at the Gleistein booth, which is located in hall 1, stand 226.
Considered the ultimate test of endurance in the world of professional ocean-going yacht racing, the Volvo Ocean Race puts competing crews and equipment through their paces – with only the best standing a chance of being competitive in this gruelling challenge. Leaders in their respective fields, Gleistein and PUMA Ocean Racing partner up for the 2011/2012 instalment of this legendary contest. Managing Director of Gleistein Ropes, Thomas Schlaetzer, is delighted: “This latest association with PUMA Ocean Racing confirms our place in the top league of running rigging for professional yachting. It substantiates our continual commitment to innovation and quality – which is what our customers particularly appreciate about us, as will the visitors to our stand at the METS trade show.”
As Official Rope Supplier of PUMA Ocean Racing, Gleistein Ropes will provide the entire running rigging for PUMA’s new Volvo Open 70. This latest sponsorship deal continues a partnership that commenced for the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-2009. “I’m thrilled that Gleistein is on board with us again,” comments PUMA Skipper, Ken Read. “Last time around we were also equipped with Gleistein’s latest state-of-the-art rigging. We are therefore confident to once more have an edge on our competition.” PUMA Ocean Racing General Manager, Kimo Worthington, agrees: “Having quality, high-tech equipment from Gleistein on board is a real advantage. In this race of endurance, reliability is the key – and Gleistein delivers. During the entire previous race, we didn’t record a single rope breakage!”
Throughout the METS trade show, Gleistein will be celebrating the fresh sponsorship deal. Aside from festivities, visitors to the Gleistein booth can expect to learn about the latest rope innovations for the yachting industry, with solutions for weekend dinghies, racing vessels, super yachts – and everything in-between. A new line of pre-spliced and packaged ropes will also be on display.
The METS trade show runs from 16-18 November 2010 in Amsterdam. The Gleistein Ropes booth will be located in hall 1, stand 226.
