Following the news about the 54m Graafship yacht Ingomar published on CharterWorld last month, the Dutch yard has announced an agreement to construct the hull for the majestic sailing yacht Wolfhound. Building of the Wolfhound schooner yacht has started at the beginning of this year, with completion scheduled for the middle of 2014.
About WOLFHOUND
Classic yacht Wolfhound is a John Alden‘s design 347. She is a quintessential American yacht with roots directly descending from the great tradition of the “fast and able” New England fishing schooners. Looking at her lines she appears “stretched” with longer overhangs and maybe more “yacht-like” than the typical fishing schooner.
Design 347 was a preliminary design that was never built so when she is realized more than 80 years after her lines were drawn in 1927 she will be an original Alden, not a replica, and in a way also be “John G. Alden’s last schooner” (that is built and that he designed for him self).
The license agreement with John G. Aden Inc. and the Wolfhound yacht project is for the exclusive rights to build this design which after all these years of being hidden away in the Alden archives will finally be born as a splendid original Alden schooner.
