Positioned in the fabulous yacht charter destination – Malta, Grand Harbour Marina provides the discerning owner and crew with a perfectly central location to berth their yacht in the Mediterranean. Situated just south of Sicily and only 150 nautical miles from Africa, Malta features a sunny and hot climate, with a cooling breeze. It also boasts plenty of cultural attractions, from rich maritime history to Arabic influenced architecture.
Throughout the year there are a number of events of note, from the Malta International Fireworks Festival at Grand Harbour Marina, from 26 – 30 April to the Malta Summer Arts Festival from 30 June – 14 July.
The island also plays host to a plethora of nautical events, including the Trophée Bailli de Suffren. Considered by many to be the Mediterranean’s most beautiful yacht race, it features an extraordinary collection of classic yachts. As the main sponsors of the event Camper & Nicholsons’ Grand Harbour Marina will welcome yachts on their completion of the race (between 22 June – 3 July).
The Rolex Middle Sea Race starts from Grand Harbour Marina on 19 October. This offshore classic follows a 606 nautical mile course around Sicily, the Aeolian Islands, the Egadi Islands, Pantelleria and Lampedusa, and back to the finish line in Malta’s Marsamxett Harbour.
It may not be a nautical event, but one that should not be missed is the Medina Grand Prix from 10 – 13 October. Throughout the weekend spectators are invited to view collections of historic and classic cars including Static Car Exhibitions.
Away from the English-style seaside resorts, this small island packs a lot of charm, from its elegant harbours and sophisticated dining, to vibrant events and attractions.
