Heartbeat yacht’s owner is a woman of singular focus. She acquired the Royal Huisman‘s Huisfit-refitted 23,8m sailing yacht Heartbeat, a Truly Classic Sloop, with the specific intention of participating in the Superyacht Cup – achieving an amazing 2nd in Palma in 2011 and 4th in Cowes in 2012.
With her eyes set on success in 2013, she asked Dutch Maritime Partners to organize a Huisfit during winter 2012-2013 with a view to optimising the efficiency and reliability of electrical and hydraulic systems for racing, as well as to undertake cosmetic renovations and repairs.
The rest is history, with Heartbeat (the smallest yacht in the regatta) taking both class honours and First Overall in the Palma Superyacht Cup 2013. The owner’s spokesman, Bart de Ven, commented: “To maximize our chances, we knew we had to upgrade the robustness and reliability of Heartbeat’s electrical and hydraulic systems. So we asked the Huisfit team to undertake a survey and make recommendations. We followed their advice 100% and upgraded accordingly – with extremely pleasing results.”
It should be noted that luxury yacht Heartbeat sails with a tight-knit crew of talented and experienced sailors, all but one of whom are non-professionals, making their success all the more commendable in the increasingly professional regatta scene.
