This year’s recently concluded Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta in Sardinia’s Porto Cervo has been a great success for three luxury sailing yachts built by the prestigious South Africa-based shipyard, Southern Wind. The event, held in the azure waters of the fantastic Costa Smeralda yacht holiday location, was once again marked by four days of beautiful weather, fair competition and entertainment.
Last year’s winner, the SW82 sailing yacht GRANDE ORAZIO once again confirmed her excellent pedigree. Taking three first places on each day of the three day race, she has become the overall winner in Class C.
Massimiliano Florio, proud owner of superyacht Grande Orazio, comments on the victory: “It was important for me, my family, the crew and also for Southern Wind Shipyard. It’s important because last year we won, but this year we did much better with three wins out of three. Next year, I would like to repeat this performance. I’m very happy!”
The SW100 superyacht BLUES made a very successful debut in Porto Cervo, placing third overall in Class C. Her owner says: “We had a very good time at Loro Piana Owners’ Dinner and Phi Beach party. The crew are happy, and for me everything is perfect. I have cruised in Sardinia a few times, but this is my first time racing here. You have the Italian feeling, the Italian way of life and I really appreciate the sailing and racing in Italy. For me it’s the best.”
The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2015 has been also a huge success for the SW100 luxury yacht CAPE ARROW, a veteran of the race. She placed third on the second day and took a fifth place overall.
