June 25, 2015 saw the New Orleans-based marine transportation company, Harvey Gulf International Marine, announce the launch of a new affiliate Harvey Shipyard Group, that will manage the company’s new shipbuilding assets. The newly formed Harvey Shipyard Group is acquiring superyacht builder Trinity Yachts, based in New Orleans, as well as the Gulf Coast Shipyard in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Harvey Gulf International Marine Chairman and CEO Shane J. Guidry comments: “These shipyard acquisitions will position Harvey Gulf as America’s only builder, owner, and operator of dual-fuel (diesel/LNG) offshore supply vessels and allow us to pass along the savings of lower operating costs and environmental protection to the Marine Transportation industry.”
Harvey Gulf is currently investing $350 million to construct a new LNG fuel fleet of platform supply vessels at the Gulfport facility, the first of which is expected to be delivered this year.
What this news about acquisition means for Trinity Yachts seems to be unknown at this time. The superyacht shipyard has presently a 58-metre yacht under construction, due to be delivered later this year. Moreover, a few yachts are currently in the yard for repair.
