Well renowned yacht Dutch builder Heesen Yachts are well underway with the construction of the second unit of the new 50-meter superyacht series. The 50m motor yacht with hull number 15850 has an overall beam of 9.00-meters and a draft of just 2.50-meters.

The 50-meter Heesen motor yacht has an exterior and interior design by Omega Architects and Naval Architecture by Heesen’s in-house team. She is expected to reach a top speed of approximately 23 knots with a cruising speed around 20 knots thanks to her twin MTU 16V M90 marine diesel engines. At a speed of 12 knots the 50m motor yacht hull number 15850 is likely to have a range of over 3,200 nautical miles.
In January, Heesen Yachts announced the joining of the superstructure and hull on construction number 15850, the second in the new 5000 class.
The 49.8m semi-displacement motor yacht is one of the few yachts of this length available with a gross tonnage of below 500GT. Heesen’s hull number 15850 has a sleek, hard-chine hull, featuring a pelican-beak bow and negative sheer –recognisable features of Heesen-built motor yachts which is the result of the collaboration between Heesen’s in-house Design and Development team and Frank Laupman of Omega Architects.
The new 5000 class by Heesen is scheduled for delivery in 2011.
Heesen has built two other yachts of 50.00-meters in the recent past; including Motor yacht Man of Steel and superyacht SKY.
