Dutch shipyard Heesen has announced the keel laying ceremony for the 50m/164ft luxury yacht PROJECT ORION (a.k.a. YN 20750) on the 14th of September at the Heesen shipyard in Oss.

Frank Laupman from Omega Architects created the exterior appearance, which features a near vertical bow and floor-to-ceiling windows for a sharp modern look permeating the interiors with light.
Cristiano Gatto styled the interiors, producing a bespoke modern interior that plays with the sense of space and the natural light pouring in through the myriad windows. The accommodation is designed with 12 guests in mind for the Owner and for the charter, with a six-stateroom layout: 1 Master suite, 1 VIP stateroom, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins.

Motor yacht PROJECT ORION will be constructed with an aluminium hull and superstructure with a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) from Van Oossanen Naval Architects for efficiency through the water. Furthermore, she will have a hybrid propulsion system installed that provides silent cruising and versatility for environmentally sensitive regions.

Twin MTU 12V 2000 M61 (IMO Tier III) engines of 600 kW each will power her through the water. At 12 knots, PROJECT ORION consumes 98 litres per hour excluding hotel load, while hybrid mode at 10 knots consumes only 45 litres an hour – a noteworthy achievement for a yacht of this size with a displacement of 295 tons.
