Heesen Yachts have introduced superyacht SANTOSHA, originally known as Project Akira, before she is delivered to her new owner later this year. She is the first hull in Heesen’s 57 metre series with exterior design by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects and an interior volume of 780GT.

Construction began on speculation with the vessel’s design evolving once the owners were on board. Their taste and lifestyle have been reflected in the designs by Harrison Eidsgaard and Heesen’s interior engineers and the result is SANTOSHA – a Sanskrit name which is accompanied by a lotus flower logo on the yacht’s branding.

The owner’s representative Peter Wilson had this to say, “Our collaboration with Heesen on this project has yielded an excellent result. Collectively, we have been working as a cohesive team, with each party doing their utmost to achieve a world-class superyacht – one that is distinct from her peers. This was our second project with Heesen, and we look forward to many more in the future. Once delivered, I have no doubt that the clients will enjoy SANTOSHA to her fullest.”

Heesen’s 57-metre series was unveiled at the 2019 Monaco Yacht show to reveal a shapely silhouette with an elongated profile and a sweeping arch. The slightly raked angle of the bow gives a stretched optical length, while the scooped-shaped stern is a standout feature.

The yacht features a nearly 70 sqm owners’ apartment, which includes a study, a full beam stateroom and expansive bathroom. The master bathroom is a work of art in itself – an ode to the Garden of Eden – designed in collaboration with the client and artists from DKT studio. White-on-white features have been inspired by bas-relief techniques, while other artworks include pieces representing healing in the form of a snake – a totem animal for the owner. The décor creates a truly personal space. The guest suites have been thoughtfully designed to offer everything guests could need while on board in an elegant, serene yet playful atmosphere.

Heesen have created a relaxed yet elegant ambience, while the owner’s choice of materials, incorporating sustainable products throughout the free-flowing layout and neutral colour palette, are luxurious and functional. The interior showcases a refined architectural hierarchy and consistency with carefully considered embellishments and curated art pieces.

Superyacht SANTOSHA is a full aluminium build with the ultra-efficient FDHD design from van Oossanen Naval Architects. Performance comes from twin MTU 16V 4000 M65L (IMO Tier III) engines which deliver a 22 knot speed and range of 3,900nm at 13 knots. A shallow draft of 2.3m will enable the owners to enjoy cruising almost anywhere and is particularly flexible for the water around the Bahamas.

Heesen’s CCO Mark Cavendish commented, “Santosha is a yacht designed for those who appreciate the finer things in life, combining elegance with practicality and meticulous attention to detail with a relaxed ambience. It stands as a true testament to Heesen Yachts’ commitment to excellence and innovation in yacht building.”
