Following on from last years’ success, this year’s HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show will once again take place in the center of Amsterdam, running from September 3 to 8. The new Amsterdam Marina will host around 300 brand-new Dutch as well as international yachts.
As in previous editions, Dutch steel motoryacht builders will have a prominent place, while many international brands will also be showcasing their latest yachts. A visit to the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show is even better in combination with a stay in the historic city. The boat show is easily accessible via a free ferry which departs from behind Amsterdam Central Station.
Basic to luxurious
The HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show is a fabulous day out for everyone who enjoys the water and beautiful boats. Visitors will get to see the crème de la crème of Dutch and international yachtbuilding. From small to large, series-built or custom, in aluminium, steel or GRP: The show offers an impressively comprehensive overview of some 300 vessels, including dozens of (global) premieres.
During the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show the quays of the new Amsterdam Marina will accommodate open sailboats, sailyachts, luxury catamarans, motoryachts, launches, tenders, speedboats and RIBs varying in length from five to 24 metres. The exhibited boats will be presented within three nautical theme worlds: Adventure Island is focused on smaller and faster open boats, Pleasure Island features cruisers, while luxurious motor and sailyachts will be berthed at Luxury Island.
Masters in steel
Dutch steel yachtbuilders have an excellent global reputation. At the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show 2013 they will once again reinforce their name for quality with a wide range of innovations and premiers. Aquanaut Yachting will showcase the European Voyager II 1700, which has been given a major facelift. Jetten Yachting will be featuring its new ‘mini megayacht’, the Jetten 35 AC, as a global premier. Linssen Yachts has two global launches: The New Classic Sturdy 32 AC and the New Classic Sturdy 42 AC. Vivante Yachts is bringing its Vivante 50 Cabrio to the show as a global premier, while Vri-Jon Yachts added the Vri-Jon Open Kuip 29 to its range. Yacht Gallery/Serious Yachts will be unveiling for the very first time the Gently 45’ Low Bridge from the boards of A.R. Design.
The segment of polyester boats, fast speedboats, launches and tenders will also feature various premiers during the event, including models by Interboat, the Bavaria Virtess 420 Fly by Jansma Jacht, the North-Line 37 Pilot by North-Line Yachts (currently under construction), and the Oud Huijzer 700 Tender by Omtzigt Watersport.
Broad selection of launches and tenders
The selection of launches, weekenders and tenders is another key segment of the exhibition programme at the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show. It will offer visitors a range of over 50 models of a large variety of brands.
The average length of the exhibited motorboats is 11.50 metres, the majority being in the seven to 15 metre segment. In the motoryachts with a length of over 17 metres, Lengers Yachts will be showcasing yachts by Riva, Feadship and Mochi Craft. Princess Yachts is showing a series of three in lengths between 18 and 20 metres. Hofstra Jachtbouw will be presenting the Proliner 63 and B. van den Hoven Jachtbouw the Executive 1700. Mulder Shipyard and the De Valk Group will once again have the largest motoryachts of the event on display.
Diversity in sailboat premieres
The sailyacht segment includes Dutch-built and international (global) premiers as well. One of the eye-catchers is the Aelicia 77 by Jachtbouw Vels & Partners, at 24 metres the largest sailyacht in the show. It is fully constructed in composite, with a lifting keel, 30-metre carbon mast, electric floor heating, full double glazing and an anchor chain below deck. Contest Yachts is bringing the new Contest 42CS, which has a spacious aft cockpit and twin steering position. Saffier Maritiem added the Saffier Sc 8 m Cabin to its range.
Het Nautisch Kwartier is presenting a new revolutionary concept in its Beneteau Oceanis series. Arcona is returning to the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show with its new Arcona 410 as a premier. Jansma Jacht is featuring the Bavaria Cruiser 37 and Bavaria Cruiser 41 as global launches, while West Yachting is showcasing the Hanse 505 to the Dutch market for the first time.
In addition to the Elan 400 WNE Yachting is presenting the Elan 320 as a global premier, as well as a yacht by the Sly brand, a new addition to the boat event, with a 38-foot Italian performance cruiser. X-Yachts Holland is revealing the Xp-50 with a new interior option in the Netherlands for the first time.
In the luxury catamaran and trimaran segment, the Lagoon 39 and Dragonfly 32 are Dutch premieres.
Dutch glory: Ocean tug Holland
A unique feature of the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show is the 57-metre historic ocean tug Holland, the last remaining representative of a generation of Dutch craftsmanship. Visitors to the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show will have the opportunity to admire this unique monument of Dutch shipbuilding. Built in 1951, the ocean tug made over 200 spectacular rescues. The vessel was almost lost for good until funds were raised to restore Holland to her former glory. Maritime enthusiasts will enjoy the characteristic hull, authentic pilot house, beautifully restored cabins and last-remaining ‘Werkspoor’ diesel engine, one of a limited series of ten built in the Netherlands.
Seminars on expedition vessel De Pooh (in Dutch)
For many ‘future travellers’ ocean sailing is a dream. Between dream and realisation, various steps are required to make a comfortable and safe crossing. One of the first steps many sailors take is following the seminars organised by Watersportmedia and Expeditiezeilen. During the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show visitors can attend short seminars aboard the fully equipped expedition vessel De Pooh on topics such as equipment for long-distance yachts, communication on board, meteorology and routing, navigation, (emergency) astro, and much more besides. De Pooh will be the place for novice long-distance sailors to learn tips & tricks from experts, and for more experienced sailors to exchange knowledge and experiences on the water.
Exciting activities
The exhibition also includes a wealth of exciting activities for children of all ages on and around the water, almost all of which are free of charge. The programme that includes sea trials in open sailboats, sailing lessons for kids, skill tests in launches, wakeboarding, flyboarding, rowing, surfing, bubble walking, manoeuvring competitions and match racing will create a dynamic atmosphere around the exhibited vessels.
Culinary and wellness highlights
The HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show offers more than boats alone with exhibitors presenting nautical items, clothing and accessories on the quay. Restaurant Duin&Kruidberg will serve delicious delicacies at its terrace overlooking the Amsterdam Marina. Good food and drinks will also be offered elsewhere on site; for example at the stand of Fort Resort Beemster between the yachts of Luxury Island, where visitors can enjoy wine tastings, relaxing massages and beauty treatments.
Opel transfer service
Opel will have a prominent presence at the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show as well. As a sponsor Opel will ensure that VIPs, invitees and visitors will be transported in style from, for instance, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport or their hotel to the boat show. There will also be cars shuttling between the various parking areas and the show entrance. Additionally, visitors will be offered the opportunity to test drive the electric Opel Ampera and the new Opel Cascada convertible.
