ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations) will be holding the popular Workshop on New Technologies for the third year in a row at METS Trade Show on 16 November. Last year’s workshop turned out to be a huge success with a record-breaking number of registrations for the limited seats.
Workshop on New Technologies is tailored for boat builders operating internationally and those who self-certify their boats, but everybody interested in the speakers and subjects is encouraged to attend. The workshop provides priceless information regarding standard applications and reflects the state of the art in manufacturing.
This year’s special highlights feature prominent naval architect Gerard Dykstra from Dykstra & Partners presenting his vision of “Future Boat Design” and Brazilian marine industry association ACOBAR’s Jorge Nasseh speaking about the highly topical “Boatbuilding Regulations/Standards in Brazil”.
Other expert presentations include “Fuel Cells in Marine Application” (Tom Chicken, Fuel Cell Systems), “Quiet Boats – Sound Quality in Cabins” (Hannu Nykanen, VTT), “A Simplified Approach to Scantlings Calculation” (Robin Loscombe, Southampton Solent University), “An Industry Approach to Avoid Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing” (Udo Kleinitz, ICOMIA and John Adey, ABYC) and “Structural Design of Details in FRP-stiffeners” (Markku Hentinen, VTT).
“This is the absolute best speakers we could have hoped for, says ICOMIA’s Technical Manager Udo Kleinitz about this year’s line-up.
“I’m happy to say that we have improved Workshop on New Technologies beyond all expectations with our 2011 outline agenda.”
The workshop is co-organised with European Boatbuilder Magazine and is set to take place on Wednesday 16 November, 13.30-17.00. The event is completely free to attend but early registration is encouraged to avoid disappointment.
