Yacht owners can be confident how their contract will be handled when contracting an ICOMIA’s Superyacht Refit Yard Member for the refit of their vessel.
The ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group has launched a unique Code of Practice to ensure that their yard members develop and maintain relationships, certainty, performance and confidence. The Code of Practice sets out the values and practices of the group. Certain client issues are mandatory, such as insurance, warranty, transparency, environmental practices and customer satisfaction.
“Although straightforward in its texts, strict adherence to the Code of Practice demands considerable dedication on behalf of each member. Being able to commit to the Code requires significant investment in human resources and infrastructure that sets the members of the group apart”, said Bob Wagemakers, Chairman of the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group.
During its two years’ existence, remarkable progress has been made in the cooperation between the seven members of the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group (Amico & Co Srl, Astilleros de Mallorca S.A., Composite Works, International Technic Marine, Marina Barcelona 92 S.A., Monaco Marine La Ciotat, and Rybovich). The Code of Practice is the first public outcome of this work. All ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group yard members must conform to the Code of Practice that brings certainty to yacht refits.
“By showing leadership, the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group will continue to improve the quality and certainty of the refit sector,” added Mr Wagemakers.
In addition to the Code of Practice, the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group offers its clients a standard framework contract that has been developed by prominent international marine lawyers. The contract addresses matters such as performance, subcontracting, redelivery, liability, warranty and insurance.
The Super Yacht Refit Group represents quality refit, repair and maintenance yards. Working towards maintaining and improving global superyacht quality, the Refit Group follows professional working standards and specified environmental practices.
