The illustrious Yacht Club of Marina di Carrara, one of Italy’s most aristocratic Yacht Clubs and a breeding ground for young talent, has been completely renovated thanks to a total restructuring project developed by Ingemar. The project spans the study/design phase of the new landings, through demolition of the existing structures to the installation of the new floating piers for moorings and protection from sea-swell.
Work began in December 2009 and was finished in the first quarter of 2010 with the consignment of 262 new berths on pontoons and multi-purpose floating docks with the load-bearing structures in galvanised steel, floating units of high displacement in reinforced concrete and polystyrene and decking in tropical hardwood.
Overall 360 linear mts of floating pontoons have been installed, 2.35 mts width, and 240 mts of floating pontoons of which 160 mts x 3 mt. width and 80 mts x 4 mt width.
Emilio Cucurnia, President of the Tuscan Marina, who can vaunt the Gold Star awarded by C.O.N.I. for Sporting Merit, commented on the conclusion of the installation: “Finally, thanks to the rational use of space and the new layout of Ingemar’s floating pontoons, our Yacht Club can now offer hospitality to a greater number of members owning yachts from 5-20 mt lengths, in a better organised overall surface area which is actually smaller than before.”
“Restructuring the moorings of a Yacht Club of this importance in the Italian sports world,” maintains Lorenzo Isalberti, President of Ingemar, with some satisfaction “has been a great success for our Technical Department which worked hard at rationalising the space in the Marina and at the installion of the new mooring structures from the viewpoint of providing facilities aimed not only at tourism but also at encouraging the growth of competitive sailing which is what originally made this Club famous.”
For over 30 years Ingemar has been designing and building pontoons and floating breakwaters worldwide and today is one of the few companies in the sector having its own independent production facilities which allows it to carry out Research and Development in order to anticipate market demands. The ISO 9001 certification for design, construction and installation testifies to its constant dedication and commitment to quality and is complemented by the SOA certification by the port sector for commissions of up to Euro 15,5 million. The company’s Head Offices are in Milan and production and customer services are at Casale sul Sile in the province of Treviso.
